Database upgrade requires purchase of another hosting plan
Our site had a need to upgrade our database platform from MS SQL Server 2000 to 2005. The documentation on the site indicated only 2000 was available (2 versions behind current product offering) so I asked support when 2005 would be available.
I was told it was made available in March, and given the reasons to upgrade and told me ticket was closed. There was no upgrade option in the interface, so I again requested help.
As was the case before, email assistance was declined as it was an issue that they would only handle on the phone. (Highly inconvenient.) So I called and the tech, of course, had no idea how to do an upgrade an said he would have to escalate and I would get a reply. (By email, by the way, since that was more convenient for them in this case.)
So after about two weeks of pursuing an answer, I was informed there was no way to upgrade a MS SQL 2000 account and I would have to open a second account if I wanted to upgrade to 2005.
Customer service is terrible
We registered a domain with Network Solutions and as a matter of convenience used their hosting service. When a difficulty arose we found their customer service rigid and unwilling to work with us to solve the problem.
Biggest Pro: Convenience
Biggest Con: Very Poor Customer Service
